Hi, I'm very interested in breaking into a buy-side research/strategist role from M&A. My long-term objective is to be able to land a portfolio manager position.
I have around 3 years of M&A execution experience from a reputable boutique bank and have the CFA Level 1. Background wise, I have a quantitative background with decent grades.
One interaction with a headhunter told me this would be a hard sell, a very a tough transition, and I should focus on M&A at another shop or Private Equity. Just wanted to get a sense of the possibilities...
