What were the most difficult or unexpected interview questions asked?:
Had me describe process of DCF using Excel. Job was related to data analysis so also asked several questions about my background knowledge and proficiency with Excel and SQL. I didn't have much background in SQL so I was asked generic questions about database management. Was asked the particulars of the my knowledge of database formulas in excel such as VLookup and PivotTables. Asked a question about my thoughts on the differences between active and passive investments. Asked a few other generic questions about the financial industries to quiz me on whether I understood interest rates.

Met recruiter on campus and had me apply to Asset Management Group online. Once my resume was approved I got call from recruiter with some generic personality questions and a few technicals about my resume. After 3 weeks I was matched with a division in Asset Management Operations and had a skype interview including personality questions as well as technicals with Manager and Managing Director of division.

How did you answer each of these questions (please be specific)?:
It was a skype interview so I had screen sharing and I walked through an example of a Discounted Cash Flow Analysis. I explained that I was proficient in Excel and that I knew how to use it to format and interpret data for inclusion in a database, but I said that I wasn't very familiar with SQL. When asked about database formulas I explained how a Vlookup worked and how PivotTables can be used to collate financial data. I explained that the industry is moving towards passive investing as the decreased fees and comparatively higher returns are attractive to investors.
